My name is Esra Simsek and I am passionate about the work I do with Central Bayside Community Health Services to ensure our clients receive the care and advice they need to live a better life.

Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with more than 18 years of leadership, sales and marketing experience, my career path took a turn when I began volunteering as a Disability Support Worker over five years ago. Since then, the Disability & Community service sector has become my passion, leading to my current role of NDIS Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach.

As a valued member of the CBCHS team, I’ve drawn on my qualifications in Mental Health and Counselling to assist clients with psychical and mental health illnesses. Working with a variety of anxiety disorders including PTSD, social anxiety, OCD, trauma, addiction, ADHD and personality disorders, I also specialise in depression, bipolar and schizophrenia support.

Delivering care in a warm, welcoming and educational environment, either at the client’s home or hospital is something I’m extremely passionate about. I want to help my participants flourish and live an independent life.

It’s my job is to keep cheering my clients on by providing the assistance and encouragement to keep them moving forward and never give up. My favourite quote is from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward”.

When I’m not working, I enjoy connecting with my family and friends, going hiking and camping and eating out at new restaurants. When I’m feeling creative I like drawing and experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes!

I am a service-focussed social professional with a strong commitment to serving the needs of disadvantaged, marginalised and vulnerable communities. My professional background and experiences spans over 13 years in the welfare sector. I have held roles both in a support worker and management capacity, ranging from state government to both large and smaller not-for-profits. A considerable amount of my working history has focussed largely on housing, homelessness and mental health, however I have also had a lot of exposure working with clients from various cohorts and different backgrounds. My management experience has also been varied, with proven experience leading teams in mainstream crisis services, social housing, case management and administration.

I believe my career speaks for itself in reflecting my dedication to occupations of service. My strong work ethic, values and commitment to social justice and equal rights have always guided every role I’ve taken on, and will continue to now as a Support Coordinator and Recovery Coach. I strive to always use a strengths-based, person-centred approach with all my clients to achieve their goals. I’m a big believer in open communication and if I had to describe myself in three words they would be; honest, innovative and reliable.

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me spending time with my family, trying out new restaurants and cafes or testing out a new recipe – I love cooking and am a hobby cake decorator!
