In 2010, whilst studying a Diploma in Disability, I completed my student placement at CBCHS.

Growing up with a sister with a disability, I would see her come home from her day programs with a huge smile on her face. Even though she had no verbal communication I could tell she had a great day and was well cared for. I decided I wanted to do the same for others and assist in any way I could for people with a disability to lead a good life.

After finishing my student placement, I proceeded to do some casual support work. Soon after I was successful in gaining a permanent position at our 299 (Cheltenham) site. With an incredible team of staff and clients, it became a second home.

In 2013, as an ambitious 22 year old, I jumped into a leadership position as a Senior Client Support Professional where I assisted to oversee the venue’s 18 staff and 32 clients. I learnt invaluable skills in this role which has helped shape me into who I am as a leader today.

Over the last 10 years CBCHS has provided me with the knowledge, skills and experience to progress in my career and has supported me through my roles as Client Support Worker, Senior Client Support Professional, NDIS Administrative Officer and now in my current role as Client Journey Officer. I have learnt leadership and management skills both formally and through the wonderful support and actions of my managers over the years.

I strive to continue to learn and grow and look forward to seeing where my leadership journey takes me in the next 10 years.
