Purpose of the Position

The Registered Nurse – COVID 19 will provide clinical, operational and ensure safety requirements are met at the COVID Vaccination Clinic. This role contributes to and maintains a seamless patient flow from arrival to departure.  The Nurse works in partnership with all CBCHS colleagues to deliver and achieve coordinated high-quality care to patients and their family/carers.  This position must be aware of all COVID vaccine Federal and State Government communications and consult with management prior to any form of communication to patients/front line staff and other colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Your Contribution Includes

  • Undertake pre-vaccination assessments and review clinical histories to ensure that individuals are eligible for vaccination.
  • Confirm consent before vaccination and understanding of contraindications.
  • Communicate clearly with patients to address any questions or concerns that may arise regarding the vaccine and potential adverse reactions.
  • Provide individuals with information on what to do in the event of adverse reactions.
  • Ensure national guidelines are respected regarding PPE, clinical and non-clinical waste, and sanitisation.
  • Adhere to best practice of the highest occupational health and safety standards.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and company record-keeping software.
  • Ensure all requirements are met regarding the COVID Vaccination Clinic
  • Ensure occupational health and safety requirements are met:
    • Liaise with logistics personnel to ensure the site is set up safely in accordance with OHS and IPAC requirements
    • Escalate any safety or operational issues or concerns for discussion and resolution with the relevant GP Supervisor and/or Program Manager
  • Adhering to prescribed:
    • Risk management and mitigation plan
    • COVID Safe Plan
    • COVID 19 Infection Control Audit Schedule and completion of audits, including vaccine ordering and stock control.
  • Participating in relevant service meetings and policy and procedure development as required
  • Collecting and collating data as required for CBCHS progress, management and DHHS reports.
  • Working collaboratively with the operations teams and all stakeholders.
  • Any other duties that are commensurate with skills and abilities, as deemed reasonable and appropriate to the role as directed by the Program Manager.


Key Selection Criteria

About You – Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Nurse, Division 1 with AHPRA registration
  • Immunisation Credentialed
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of COVID -19 vaccine regimes or willingness to learn
  • Excellent negotiation skills and a can do attitude
  • Superior problem solving skills
  • Willingness to work flexibly and responsibly in a dynamic, changing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated reliability and productivity in a demanding role
  • High level knowledge and skills in infection prevention and control and occupational health and safety
  • Full Driver’s Licence (preferred)
