Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this role in the child development service is to provide a high quality, effective and efficient service to children and families through the use of qualifications, skills, consultation with the individual and allied health services.

This role works with other members of the child development team to provide a multidisciplinary service to help children achieve meaningful participation in their everyday settings. The service supports families to identify and build on a child’s strengths, interests and capabilities.  The role will provide assessment and treatment to pre-school, primary school aged children, and families within a multidisciplinary service through the provision of appropriate clinical interventions, group work and health promotion activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Speech Pathology services to children 0 -12 years old, including formal and informal assessment, care planning, delivery of therapy, reporting, and discharge while using a Family Centred approach in accordance with Central Bayside Community Health Services’ objective to provide programs and services, which are responsive and accountable to the community;
  • Provide guidance and support for the other members of the Child and Family Services team;
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary team (and with the wider organisation), in order to best meet a family’s needs and priorities;
  • Conduct assessments, utilising standardised and non-standardised assessments, in conjunction with observational assessment to establish appropriate therapy programmes for clients;
  • Plan and facilitate group therapy sessions for children and their families;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant funding streams, eligibility criteria, and referral pathways available for children, based on their presentation and goals;
  • Provide services across clinical areas including motor skills, play, self-regulation, and executive function; speech, language, fluency and pragmatics.

Key Selection Criteria

About You

  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology or recognised equivalent qualification;
  • Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Demonstrated Paediatric Speech Pathology experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver assessments, recommendations & therapy in line with NDIS plans;
  • Excellent knowledge of Speech Pathology specific practices with children and their families
  • Current Victorian Driver licence;
