Overview

Community Health Services are a major part of the Victorian health system. Community Health Services play an important role in the ongoing preventative and primary care work, which supports people to live in the community by reducing avoidable hospitalisation and improving the general health and well-being of Victorians.

Community Health Services are diverse and extensive, they see people from all age groups and backgrounds. There is a concentration of people on low incomes, older people and children, with more than 80% being Health Care card holders.

Central Bayside Community Health Services (CBCHS), based in the City of Kingston, is funded to provide a broad range of health and community services to its community of interest. That is, those people who live, work or attend school within the local community. CBCHS has a number of sites with our central site being located in Parkdale.

CBCHS is a non-profit organisation incorporated under the Association Incorporation Act 1981, providing community-based health services and promoting community well being to the City of Kingston catchment area. CBCHS employs over 210 staff to deliver a variety of health services. The service operates within a budget of approximately $8.2 million and has assets in excess of $6.5 million. Funding is received primarily through three sources – Commonwealth and State Governments, and user fees.

Central Bayside Community Health Service is a member of the Kingston Bayside Primary Care Partnership which encourages member agencies to work together to develop a stronger, more integrated community based health and community service sector.

Fees CBCHS Client Fees policy identifies the practice of client co-payment for the ongoing provision of efficient and effective services in our community. A co-payment is required in the majority of services offered by CBCHS. This fee assists with the financial support required for the continuation of excellent service. Whilst all clients are encouraged to pay the nominated fee, a client will not be denied a service of the basis of an inability to pay the co-payment or fee. To meet the needs of our culturally and linguistically diverse community CBCHS accesses the services of the ONCALL Interpreters & Translators.
