Day Programs for Adults with an Intellectual Disability
What is CBACO?
CBACO is a non-Government organisation funded by the Department of Human Services to provide day programs.
What are the benefits?
Different people get different things out of a day program. Some find new friends while doing activities they enjoy. For many, a number of options open up in terms of what they can do and learn. Personal development and self-esteem often grow when people choose and participate in programs that are varied, stimulating and enjoyable.
What do we offer?
Programs at CBACO are based on the individual needs, strengths and choices of clients, as assessed through the Person Centred Plan process. We invite family members and other key persons to meet with our staff and the client to ensure a holistic approach to service delivery.

Policy and Procedure
CBACO operates in accordance with the Disability Act (2006). Program and service delivery is in accordance with Statewide and Central Bayside Community Health Services policies and procedures.

Programs
CBACO offers programs to a wide range of clients. Each client has a Person Centred Plan that outlines their hopes and aspirations. To help each Client achieve their hopes and aspirations, CBACO develops a weekly timetable of programs and activities. Examples of this may be:
- Work Experience
- Industry
- Meals on Wheels
- Physiotherapy
- Volunteering
- TAFE
- Communication
- Sensory Awareness
- Numeracy and Literacy
- Computers
- Swimming
- Hydrotherapy
- Various Sports
- Travel Training
- Shopping
- Cooking
- Art and Craft
- General Outings
- As well as any other programs that may be identified by a client
Programs operate within each venue or a community facility that CBACO has developed a partnership with.
CAFÉ ESCAPE
Clients are supported by an Instructor to assist with the daily operations of a Café. On-the-job training is provided to clients in the areas of cooking, customer service, and cleaning.
FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP
CBACO. has a Family Support Group that meets on a monthly basis. Activities consist of guest speakers, informal group discussions and outings.
Costs
Clients attending CBACO pay a weekly cost, which covers: - transport - programs.
Volunteers
Volunteers have the opportunity to become involved in a wide variety of our programs including music, hydrotherapy, computer training, art and craft, massage, sailing and community access. Volunteers provide valuable assistance to clients and staff, offering their experience and time whilst gaining experience in the disability field. CBACO volunteers are fully supported by staff. No previous experience is needed. We welcome enquiries from people who may be interested.
