Aim

To provide friendly visiting for socially isolated residents in Commonwealth-funded aged care homes.

Service Description

1:1 visiting to eligible residents, in aged care homes in the Brighton to Mt Eliza areas. Visitors are volunteers who commit to see their friends for at least one hour a fortnight, for the purpose of friendship and companionship. Referrals are made via the aged care homes themselves, or occasionally by a family member who is unable to have regular contact with their relative. To be eligible for the service, a resident must receive a meaningful visit from a friend or relative less often than once every two weeks.

For referrals and program information please contact the Chelsea site on 9781 9333.
