Overview
Aim
The Inner South Communication Service aims to enhance the participation of people with complex communication needs in our local community. People with complex communication needs are defined as being people who cannot speak and people whose speech is difficult to understand.
Service Description
This service focuses on increasing the skills and resources of the community to support the participation of people with complex communication needs.
Services provided may include:
- Consultation to organisations and community groups employing or providing services to people with complex communication needs
- Training for groups and individuals
- Information and resources in the area of complex communication needs
- Mentoring for speech pathologists
Individual speech pathology services are offered for adults between the ages of 18 and 65 years where no other service is available. Individual services are short-term and focus on the individual’s specific goals in the areas of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), safe eating and drinking and saliva control.
Services are provided in the areas of Port Phillip, Stonington, Glen Eira, Bayside and Kingston.
