Family centred practice – offering a range of services to children and their families
Service Description
Team consists of Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Physiotherapist and Paediatrician.
The Speech Pathologist, is able to assess and treat children aged between 0 – 6 years who present with a wide variety of speech, language and communication disorders.
Group or individual therapy is available and visits can be made to kindergartens, playgroups or crèches.
The Occupational Therapist assesses and treats children 0 – 12 yrs presenting with developmental delay, learning difficulties, handwriting problems, fine or gross motor co-ordination concerns or delayed play skills.
Treatment may be offered on an individual basis, in groups or by a home program. School visits are also conducted where necessary.
The Physiotherapist provides a service to babies and children 0 – 18 years who are experiencing musculoskeletal or movement problems.
This service offers short term therapy and appropriate referral will be made if longer-term treatment is required.
The Child and Family Psychologist provides child and family counselling and assessments for children 0 - 12 years of age and under who are not eligible for other services. Individual, child, parent and family consultations are offered. These are confidential, respectful and collaborative.
The Paediatrician can see any child 0 – 18 years where concerns exist regarding their development, learning, behaviour or general health issues.
Doctor’s referral is required.

Referral to Child Development Service
Anyone can refer to the service, including parents. A doctor’s referral is necessary only for the Paediatrician. Referrals can be taken in writing or over the phone for occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech pathology.
For psychology services, parents or guardians may contact the duty worker on 8587-0200.
Fees
There is a cost involved for services. Please discuss at the time of your referral. Bulk billing is available for the Paediatrician consultation.
