Aim
The aim of the program is to reduce the harm to the individual, their families and the community caused by alcohol and drug use.
Service Description
The service provides free, confidential, accessible, and non-judgmental assessment, counseling, treatment and referral to sufferers of substance misuse, their families and other concerned individuals to the communities of Bayside, Kingston and Glen Eira, who are self-referred or from other agencies. This service in offered between the hours of 8:30-5pm Monday to Friday. It is divided into four programs. These programs are:
Counselling, Consultancy and Continuing CareThis service provides individual, couples and family assessment and outpatient counselling to individuals suffering substance use problems, their families and other concerned individuals. Clients can be seen at Parkdale, Bentleigh and Chelsea community health centres. |
Youth OutreachAssessment, counseling and treatment and referral are offered to young people between the ages of 12-21. This service is primarily an outreach service. |
Outpatient WithdrawalAssistance is offered over a 1-12 week period for people experiencing mild to moderate withdrawal syndromes from substances. Clients are required to attend one of the centers for consultation with a substance withdrawal nurse. |
Home Based WithdrawalAssistance is offered over a 1-2 week period for people experiencing withdrawal syndromes from substances. Clients are visited at their homes. It is preferred that clients have a support person and access to a telephone during the withdrawal treatment. The service is subject to assessment by a withdrawal nurse. |
